In this troubled world of ours, I wonder how many of you out there, from your own experiences in life, really believe there is a 'something',  a 'guiding force', creator, some may call 'God'.  From what I have read recently,  there is more belief in an after-life than ever before, even among atheists, but apparently this is because - wait for it - we live in such a selfish, greedy, non-spiritual society where we expect to have, and demand, everything!   How sad.  What do you think?

My First Blog

This is the first blog of Mary Bowmaker, (musician and author).

(Sitting in a Turkish hairdressers in London, an assistant asked me,
'Would you like to have your Turkish coffee cup read'!)

Although my career has been in music, a pianist, (teacher and performer), my long love of writing has at last come to the fore resulting in the publication of three books;

A Little School on the Downs
                                      Is   anybody   there...
                                      Leaning on the Invisible

Through the last two books, writing about the 'so-called' paranormal as a great truth, and one that we all embrace every day of our lives - usually without realising it - I am hoping, in the telling of many incredible and yet at times very ordinary experiences, to convince readers to look carefully at their own lives, and in looking, perhaps see how often they too have been touched by this 'something', call it Universal Energy, life-force, Creator, God! And in beginning to understand such 'phenomena', to accept the fact that whatever happens in life, whatever we do or where ever we go, we do not walk alone... and in answering the question, 'Is anybody there?' with a resounding 'yes Yes YES', wanting to shout it from the roof-tops, then we will have reached one of the most important mile-stones of our lives:

What do you think?  IS anybody there?

Is anybody there...

Is anybody there...  by Mary Bowmaker
Is Anybody There… is a book about strange, unbelievable incidents that happen in every life. How do we view them? Do we say ‘imagination’, ‘coincidence’, ‘just one of those things’, or is there perhaps something more?

In this thought-provoking, self-help book of the so-called ‘paranormal’, we seek to find answers to the unexplainable, and answers to the question posed in the title.

This book is not about religious dogma or creed in any shape or form. It is about lives. The lives of ordinary people who, for one reason or another, have been touched by this ‘unnamed something’. It is about their experiences – experiences that could happen to any one of us at any time, in any place.

Leaning on the Invisible

Leaning on the Invisible
by Mary Bowmaker
The paranormal, or perhaps a Divine Presence, a guiding force, can be thought of as the ‘unnamed something’, or the Universal Energy; to many, it will be ‘God’. People all over the world are fascinated by it, from countries that live by their own strict religious codes and practices, to countries that have little time or thought for any form of religion. Always, the paranormal is there, as we make our way through life, for the paranormal (so called), is life, as evidenced in a dream that turns out to be true, or in the wonder of a coincidence that can be the means of changing attitudes or relationships for the better...or in the wonder of nature, in the power of prayer.

Leaning on the Invisible is an introduction to the unknown, a portal into another world that, if we fail to walk through it, leaves us immeasurably impoverished. The whole world has opened up suddenly to a form of ‘global citizenship’, as through the medium of the internet and other forms of communication we at last understand, and try to realise the significance and truth of the words the Brotherhood of Man.

And just as there is a great need for harmony and peace, for a ‘healing’ in our troubled times, so too comes the desire to seek out ‘like minds’, others who share a belief in the power for ‘good’, in the comforting reassurance that we do not travel this earthly path alone, that there is a reason for everything and everything happens for a reason. So too is the desire to share so-called paranormal experience, as through it we gain a better understanding of the meaning of life, and of life itself.
